Bride On A Budget

Weddings can be expensive; we all know it. So here are 8 ways you can cut costs without giving up your dream wedding.

1. Get married on a weekday.

I know it sounds crazy, but if you want your dream venue, just listen. Most of the time wedding venues have cheaper prices Monday-Thursday AND are more likely to be available. Weekday weddings are also great if you are getting married in the temple because those days are not as busy. You will often get the bride room all to yourself and have plenty of time for pictures after without having to rush.

2. Display the program on a Chalkboard instead of printing programs.

Have the program displayed on a chalkboard or another way for everyone to see. This way people know what to expect without having the added costs of printing everyone a program.

3. Borrow a veil.

Let me be the first to say Veils can create some of the dreamiest photos, but you are likely to never use it again so borrow one! I am sure you have some married family members of friends that had a veil for their wedding and I bet if you asks they would gladly let you use it.

4. Be Creative when it comes to the food you serve.

You can still have memorable and delicious food without getting it catered or spending a fortune on a food truck. Some less expensive ideas include: Ice cream bar, Hot Chocolate and cinnamon Rolls, a simply dessert table with Italian Sodas, milk and cookies, or a taco bar. All of these ideas would be a hit with your guests.

5. Use your Bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces.

Your bridesmaids will only be using their bouquets during the ceremony and pictures. They likely won’t be carrying them around during your reception so repurpose them as table centerpieces. This is a great way to cut Floral costs and still get the look you are going for.

6. Give Honest Feedback

Ask the vendors that you work with if they will give you a discount for leaving an honest review. Vendors love the feedback and a lot of times they will say yes. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

7. Get a smaller Cake.

I love the tradition of feeding cake to one another or rather shoving cake in each others faces 😉 But you do not need a 4 tier cake to do this. Most of the weddings I have been to the cake doesn’t even get served. If you still want the look of a larger cake then make most of the tiers fake by frosting Styrofoam. There is plenty of other food to go around that this is a great place to save some $$$.

8. Open a Wedding Budget bank account.

When you have a place where all the money is at, you can easily see how much you have spent and how much you have left. This makes you think more about where your money is going and what is important to you. You can even give your mom and other people in charge of buying things a debit card so everyone is on the same page and nothing slips through the cracks. Those little expenses can add up if we aren’t careful.

I hope this helped! If you have any tips I can add to this list leave them in the comments!
